How to maintain 'Summer Legs'

Saturday, 20 June 2015

Whether you're currently heading into Winter like myself, or you're lucky enough to be getting ready for Summer, I'm sure many of you either want to maintain or prepare your 'Summer Legs'. Here are my favourite products for keeping my legs looking as good as possible.

Exfoliate

Soap and Glory Breakfast Scrub - As an avid fake tanner I have tried my fair share of body scrubs and this one is by far my favourite. I'd like to point out that while the delicious smell of maple syrup is an absolute bonus it isn't the only reason I love this scrub.  The scrub is the perfect combination of being abrasive and gentle. I've always preferred scrubs that are quite fine and don't contain large chunks as they remove dead skin or tan much better, and this is the perfect one. If you are after a new scrub to keep your legs looking fresh this season, I highly recommend this one.

Shower Oil

Loccitane Huile De Douche Shower Oil - To leave, not just my legs, but my whole body feeling soft and nourished I love using a shower oil. This one from Loccitane is made with Almond Oil which gives it a beautiful, subtle scent of almonds. As you apply this oil, it begins to lather into a milky texture that leaves the skin feeling super hydrated. You can use this on its own or if you're after super hydrated skin you can also moisturise after.

Moisturise
Soap and Glory Girligo Moisturizing Mist -  Yet another product from Soap and Glory... I can't seem to keep my hands off their products... they just smell so good. This is one of my favourite ways to moisturise, as I'm definitely prone to being a tad lazy when it comes to moisturising. You just quickly spray the product onto your skin and it takes 5 seconds to rub it in due to its thin consistency. This works absolutely beautifully over the Loccitane shower oil and provides me with that little bit extra nourishment that my scaly  legs seem to need in winter.

Gradual Tan

St. Tropez Gradual Tan in Medium/Dark -  I love using gradual tanners in between my fake tans, just to keep my legs looking as fresh and dark as possible. I generally apply this in the morning, just before I start my day. However, if you are using this gradual tan by itself I would recommend using it overnight for the best results.

MAC Starter Kit / Essentials

Saturday, 6 June 2015

When I started becoming more and more interested in investing in high end makeup MAC was the obvious place to start. Except, when you're new to the world of high end makeup even the MAC store alone is a very daunting place. So whether you've got no idea where to start and you want to know what's worth the money, or if you're a beauty addict like myself, with an expanding make-up collection, here are my favourite products from MAC...

TOP 3 LIPSTICKS
Mac Blankety - If you've followed me for a while now, you'd know that this lipstick is what I reach for when I'm after the 'Kylie Jenner Look'. It's the perfect dark nude for when I'm pale and a basic nude when I'm using fake tan. It's probably my most reached for Mac Lipstick because of the formulation, it wears off perfectly and is quite matte without being too drying.

Mac Velvet Teddy is a newer lipstick in my collection. I recently picked it up so I had a darker nude/brown for when I'm using fake tan. It's very "Kylie Jenner" and it looks absolutely gorgeous when I am tan and I even use it occasionally when I'm pale. It's a matte lipstick so it is a little drying but it stays on all day... even when you're stuffing your face with food.
Mac Hue was one of my first lipsticks from Mac and I go through phases were I wear it to death. I generally use this one when I haven't fake tanned. The colour is perfect for my light skin tone and it leaves a glossy finish. I generally steer towards this lipstick when I'm after something light and easy. If your lips are dry it can often stick to dry patches but looks absolutely gorgeous if your lips are in good condition.
Mac Pro Longwear Concealer - If you haven't ever heard of this concealer than I will genuinely be surprised. I have been using this concealer for a few years now and will always ensure that it's in my collection. It works brilliantly to cover up blemishes and you honestly need the smallest amount of product. It's one of my all time favourite concealers!

Eyeshadows
Mac Satin Taupe - I had seen this particular eyeshadow being raved about years before I actually purchased it. It really is the perfect satin taupe eyeshadow. The formulation is creamy and easy to apply and can be worn with so many different looks. If you are after a versatile shade that can be worn day or night I highly recommend picking this one up.
Mac Omega - As I'm sure you can tell by the giant hole I've left in this shadow, it is my all time favourite Mac eyeshadow. It actually reminds me alot of the Urban Decay shadow 'Naked 2'. I use this shadow mostly to fill in my eyebrows but it also doubles as the perfect ashy crease colour. This is a must have in every girls collection.
Mac Soft and Gentle - This is by far one of my favourite highlighters in my entire collection and believe me, a little goes a long way. I don't think I'll ever need to repurchase this one, simply because you get so much product! It is a gorgeous shimmery golden highlight that can be applied to your highlight points and your eyelids. As an eyeshadow it provides a subtle shimmer and looks perfect when paired with a bronzer in the crease.
Mac Well Dressed - This. Blush. Is. Perfect. and is the only blush in my entire collection that I've actually come this close to finishing. I always find myself falling in love with new blushes and neglecting my older ones, however I always come back to well dressed. It is a gorgeous pink that is mostly matte but when applied to the skin gives a subtle glow. If you have pale skin you need to get your butt down to your Mac store and purchase this blush. I'm 99% sure that it's my favourite blush of all time and I know so many people who would agree with me.

Sorry for the sad state of the packaging for half of these products... they really are well used and very loved. If you haven't tried any of these products I really do recommend you pop into your MAC store and at least swatch them.

Autumn/Winter Beauty Essentials

Wednesday, 3 June 2015

One thing I love about Autumn and Winter is the chance to play with deeper coloured eyeshadows, lipstick and nail polishes... Here are my favourite Autumn/Winter essentials.

With the release of the Hourglass Modernist palettes came a lot of scrutiny. I'm not sure whether it was peoples high expectations of Hourglass or the hefty price tag ($76AUD). It seemed alot of bloggers weren't impressed with these, I have to disagree completely. I absolutely adore this palette (Exposure), and its creamy texture. The colours in this palette are rich, smooth and perfect for Autumn/Winter. They can be worn in so many different ways and the mauve tones are perfect for my brown eyes. They can be a little powdery but the colours are well worth the little extra effort. If you're an avid beauty collector than I think this product is worth checking out!

I've had this Topshop lipstick in Inhibition for a few years now and I fall back in love with it every Autumn/Winter. At the time I purchased it, I was after a dark purple/maroon lipstick for relatively cheap and I was honestly so impressed when I found this one. For $16 I have found the perfect Autumn colour that I can always rely on to deepen up my look.

I've also been loving these nail polishes from China Glaze and OPI, two brands I have loved for the longest time. I find that a nude polish is absolutely essential year round but especially during Autumn. The shade 'Don't Pretzel my Buttons' by OPI is the perfect nude for pale skin. I struggled for so long to find a nude that didn't look ridiculous on my fair skin and as soon as I swatched this colour I knew I had to own it. Nude is particularly trendy right now so I've been using it more than ever. 'Smoke and Ashes' by China Glaze is a little more daring than 'Pretzel my Buttons' but I absolutely adore wearing it with a black outfit on a night out. When applied it is a gorgeous black with a subtle blue/green shimmer.

Flowerbomb - The Perfect Scent

Sunday, 24 May 2015

Viktor and Rolf Flowerbomb is by far my favourite scent of all time...

This perfume was brought to my attention in around May of 2014, at first I swooned, and for months I only wore it  when I snuck into the perfume section at the department store and doused myself in it. I was lucky enough to receive it as a gift a few months after that... perhaps my loved ones noticed my unhealthy obsession.

Now, I couldn't describe a scent well enough if you  paid me but the professionals assure me that it has notes of freesia, Centifolia rose, osmanthus and Sambac jasmine, supported by a background of patchouli.

Now frankly, unless you absolutely love this scent it probably isn't worth the price. However, I do urge you to smell it if you haven't already because I am sure many of you will fall just as hard in love with it as I did.

It is available in 30, 50 and 100ml and luckily for me mine is the 100ml bottle. Viktor and Rolf really nailed it with this one and I will definitely be repurchasing it.

Quay Sunglasses Review

Wednesday, 20 May 2015

Every girl needs a good pair of sunglasses. I just recently purchased mine from Quay Australia and I am in love with them already...

I'm sure you've all seen Quay sunglasses somewhere, with celebrities like Shay Mitchell and Miley Cyrus constantly wearing them, they're hard to miss. I've been in love with the brand for a few months now and adored my first pair so much I just had to order two more.

The Asha sunglasses (First picture | Top) are my favourite, they have a gorgeous gold frame with a purple/blue lense. All Quay sunglasses offer 100% UV protection and provide an impressive shield from glare.

The second pair (First picture | Bottom) are called the Modstar. I ordered these because I have been lusting over the Rayban Round Metal glasses for the longest time and they are very similar in shape and colour. When they arrived I was more than impressed with the similarity and for a fifth of the price I was extremely happy.

Both pairs are relatively cheap, costing around $45 with free shipping to Australia. If you have ever thought about purchasing any Quay sunglasses I highly recommend them.

Benefit Box O' Powders Collection and Review

Sunday, 17 May 2015

Benefit Box Powders are some of my favourite blushes and over the years I have collected quite a few. Here's my collection...

Top Row: Sugarbomb | Coralista | Rockateur | Bella Bamba
Bottom Row: Thrrrob | Hervana | Dandelion

Sugarbomb
 Coralista
 Rockateur
 Bella Bamba
 Thrrrob
 Hervana
Dandelion

For those of you who aren't already drawn in by the adorable packing and cute names, the product inside is every bit as good. Every single one of these blushes applies beautifully. They are creamy, pigmented and leave a gorgeous finish on the skin. They all have a slightly sweet scent but for those of you who don't like scented beauty products don't worry because the scent isn't very overwhelming. Now like everything, I do recommend some of these more highly than others...

Sugarbomb - This was my first Box O Powder and was the initial product that made me want to keep purchasing these blushes. It has a combination of four shades which provides a peachy golden sheen that comes across almost metallic.

Coralista - This one is quite pigmented and is a pink coral with a golden shimmer through it. It's fairly similar to Bella Bamba and I often find myself wearing it in the evening.

Rockateur - This one is absolutely gorgeous and is what  I would call a 'rose gold' blush. It's perfect for when I have fake tan on and I'm looking for a bronzed glow.

Bella Bamba - Bella Bamba is a watermelon pink with a gold shimmer. I find Bella Bamba very bold as it really stands out on my pale skin, I tend to steer towards wearing shades like this at night time or when I am wearing fake tan.

Thrrrob - This is hands down my favourite one of them all. It isn't quite as pigmented as the others but it provides a soft pink glow, which is great for pale skin like mine. It has a small amount of silver shimmer through it but appears almost matte on the cheeks. It is absolutely gorgeous and I am currently using it very sparingly as I'm not sure whether or not Benefit have discontinued this one.

Hervana - 4 Shades of peach, purple and pink come together to create a lovely pink blush. Hervana is in my top three as it leaves a gorgeous matte flush of colour on the cheeks.

Dandelion - Second to Thrrrob, this is one of my favourites. It is described as a ballerina pink but I think it is the perfect pinky-peach blush for pale skin. I have yet to find another peach blush that is better than this one and will definitely repurchase it.

I highly recommend Benefit Box O' Powders, which is your favourite?
